This is a free MLB pick on the Milwaukee Brewers from Jesse Schule.

The A’s wasted a brilliant performance from A.J. Griffin last night, as the bullpen gave up three runs in the 8th, and Milwaukee went on to win 4-3 in extra-innings.

It was a tough loss, especially for Griffin who tossed seven scoreless innings allowing just four hits. Now the A’s have to get back onto the field early Wednesday for Game 3, less than 24 hours later.

Adding to their troubles is the fact that tomorrow’s starter is facing what appears to be an imminent suspension for using PEDs, after his season was cut short by a suspension for steroid use last year. This might be the end of the line for 41 year old Bartolo Colon.

Colon (6-2, 3.33 ERA) is having himself quite a season, so whatever supplements he’s been taking appear to be working. Not only will he have a potential suspension hanging over his head, but he could be a little fatigued after going the distance in his last start, throwing over 106 pitches. You don’t see many 41 year olds pitching complete games these days, even if they are all juiced up.

The Brewers will send Yovani Gallardo to the hill, and he’s coming off a win his last time out. Gallardo (4-5, 5.05 ERA) allowed five runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings at Philadelphia, but picked up the win behind eight runs of support.

It’s fair to say that Gallardo has struggled this season, but he’s been much better at home than he has been on the road. The A’s haven’t seen a lot of Gallardo, but those players that have seen him in the past haven’t enjoyed much success. Nobody is hitting better than .200 against him.

We’re getting a good price on the home team here, all things considered.

Take the Brewers.

Free MLB pick from Doc’s Sports- Take #926 Milwaukee over Oakland (8:10pm est): The Milwaukee Brewers are a much better team when at home than they are on the road the last few years and come into this one here as a home underdog. The Brewers have won five of the last seven times in interleague play as an underdog. They face right-hander A.J. Griffin here in this one and the Brewers remain a solid play at home when facing a right-hander, having gone 86-42 against a starting right-hander.

The Oakland A’s will go up against Brewers right-hander Kyle Loshe in this one. The A’s offense has beat up on left-handers this season but that’s not the case at all when facing RHP, as Oakland has an on-base average 44 points lower versus a right-hander. It looks like Loshe has struggled a bit of late but keep in mind he has pitched three straight starts on the road and before those three outings he was at home versus two very dangerous offense’s, Texas and St. Louis. Before this rough stretch of games, Loshe had started the year off with an excellent 2.25 ERA and an even more impressive WHIP below 1.00 in his first five starts of the season.

Backing a home underdog in baseball is as good a blind bet there is for a MLB bettor. Getting one like we have here who plays well at home, handles right-hand pitching and has a starter who has been tested of late is very solid value. Take Milwaukee here in this game.

We lost with the White Sox last night with a premium play but will come back with them tonight for a smaller play. Chicago is in a massive funk as it has lost seven straight games and the offense has done nothing to help as it has scored a total of just 11 runs over this stretch.

Many will be riding this streak thinking that the offense continues its slide and while it won’t be easy to come out of it, the White Sox have a ton of value here with Jake Peavy on the hill. He is having a solid season with a 3.62 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 10 starts. He has tossed seven quality outings and while he is coming off his worst start of the season, his previous two non-quality performances were followed up with two gems, both leading to Chicago victories. Peavy is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in three career starts at Safeco Field. The Mariners snapped their two-game skid with the victory last night but the offense managed only four runs which was the 14th time in their last 18 games they have scored four runs or fewer. Felix Hernandez has been awesome once against with the exception of a couple bad outings as he has a 2.38 ERA on the season in 12 starts. He has not done as well at home though as he has a 3.18 ERA, which is still solid, but Seattle is just 1-3 in his four home starts and going back to last season, it is 1-7 in his last eight home starts. Play (923) Chicago White Sox.
