The Chicago Bulls are showing solid value as a 5.5-point underdog to the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday. The Bulls have won three straight over the Lakers, including a 95-83 home victory on January 21st in their first meeting this season. The underdog is 17-5 ATS in the last 22 meetings in this series.
Los Angeles comes in way overvalued due to winning seven of its last nine games overall. They had to erase a 25-point deficit to beat lowly New Orleans, and they also overcame a late deficit to beat Toronto 118-116 (OT) last time out on March 8th. It’s certainly not good when you have to come from behind to beat those two teams.
Chicago comes in undervalued due to having lost four of its last seven games overall. A closer look shows that three of those four losses all came on the road against three of the best teams in the league in Oklahoma City, Indiana and San Antonio. The Bulls have actually played their best basketball on the road this season where they are 17-13.

We expect an up and down game with little defensive effort which will lead to a high-scoring game between the Bobcats and Wizards on Saturday night. Charlotte is not playing any defense lately. The Bobcats have allowed 116 points or more in three of their last four games. Going back a bit further, Charlotte has allowed 101 points or more in 8 of their last 11 games. The Bobcats have played no defense on the road all season long; they are allowing 104 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field and 38.4% shooting from three-point land. Charlotte played at home last night and they allowed 116 points to Oklahoma City. Tonight will be their third game in four nights and they are not going to start playing defense all of a sudden. Washington also played last night and they lost 95-78 at Brooklyn. The Wizards offense has been really struggling lately; they’ve scored 95 points or less in six consecutive games. But they are still playing at a fast pace and took 90 shots last night but those shots just didn’t go in. Washington will get their offense in gear tonight against the woeful Charlotte defense. In the last game against Charlotte, the Wizards took 93 shots and scored 106 points despite shooting only 36.6% from the field and 22.2% from three-point land. We expect an up and down game with little defensive effort which will lead to a high-scoring game between the Bobcats and Wizards on Saturday night.

Portland Trailblazers vs. San Antonio Spurs

It’s never easy betting against the Spurs at home, but I feel like there’s a lot of value here with the Trailblazers. San Antonio was able to rally in the 2nd half against Chicago to pull out a 101-83 win at home as a 8.5-point favorite. They have now won two straight by double-digits without Tony Parker in the lineup. While the Spurs can make an injury seem like it doesn’t matter with their ability to plug someone in and keep winning, I don’t believe they will keep blowing teams out without him on the floor.
The Spurs have had their troubles with Portland of late. The Trailblazers lost by just 3-points in the first meeting between these two teams this season and were able to hold on for a 98-90 victory in the second meeting. After blowing a big lead Wednesday in a 85-91 loss at Memphis, I look for Portland to come out and lay everything on the line to get a win here. While it’s unlikely they pull off the upset, this game should be decided by single-digits.
