College Football: ACC Futures Odds
By SBRForum.com
We’re still patiently awaiting the beginning of the college football season and thankfully there’s not too much time left until the action kicks off.
There are some conferences out there that will be the better than the rest, as always, such as the SEC and Big Ten. But what about the ACC? Who will be leading the pack there? And which teams will falter and fall off the map?
There’s a clear favorite in the college football odds in the Atlantic Coast Conference and that’s the Florida State Seminoles. They’re listed at +100 to take home the conference championship at season’s end.
The Seminoles return a number of starters from their successful 2011/12 team and should be exceptionally strong defensively once again.
Next on the list is Virginia Tech, with the Hokies available for backing at +300 to win the ACC. Similar to Florida State, Virginia Tech had an excellent defense (seventh in the nation in points allowed) and that should be the case again this year.
The third-favorite in the ACC will be the Clemson Tigers and they’re going to be good because of their offense, not defense. Tajh Boyd emerged as a huge QB threat last season. Watch out for him this year.
Following those three on the list will be Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), Virginia and NC State, while Wake Forest and Boston College are further down in the futures.
Turning our attention towards the bottom-feeders, the two biggest underdogs in the odds are Maryland (+12500) and Duke (+13000).
The Blue Devils and Terrapins may have highly successful basketball programs, but the same cannot be said for football. The results speak for themselves. Both teams will struggle to compete with a stronger ACC this year.
Which team are you going to be watching in 2012/13?
