Toronto Blue Jays vs. Minnesota Twins

The Twins squeaked out a 1-run win yesterday, but it was just their 3rd victory in their last 11 games. Minnesota has been one of the best fades in baseball, even on its home field and even after a win. The Twins are 14-43 in their last 57 overall, 14-37 in their last 51 home games and 5-22 in their last 27 games following a win.
The Blue Jays have had plenty of success versus the Twins as well. They are 35-16 in the last 51 meetings, including 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Minnesota.
Besides the obvious reasons for fading Minnesota that I have already listed, I also believe the Jays have the edge on the mound with rookie Drew Hutchison, who will be making his fifth start. I’m expecting some rust from Minnesota’s P.J. Walters, who will make his season debut and first major league start since 2010. Take Toronto.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Chicago Cubs have quietly started to play a lot better baseball, and I think they are favored at Milwaukee for good reason tonight. The Cubs will send out Matt Garza against Randy Wolf, and I don’t think there is any question Chicago has the edge on the mound. Garza is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 0.891 WHIP in five starts. He has been on top of his game against the Brewers in the past, going 3-1 with a 3.07 ERA in four starts.
Wolf has really struggled to get opposing batters out, and as a result he is just 2-3 with a 6.68 ERA and 1.825 WHIP. You know a pitcher is struggling when they struggle at San Francisco and San Diego, which is where Wolf’s last two starts took place. He allowed 7 runs on 18 hits in 11 innings over those two starts. While Chicago has had their struggles offensively, I think there is a good chance they put up 4-5 runs tonight. Plenty of run-support for Garza to secure the win and cash our bet! BET CHICAGO!

New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins
Pick: New York Mets +115 odds (May 11th 2012)

The Mets are showing value at this price with ace Johan Santana on the bump. The Mets have won 4 of his 6 starts on the season, during which he has posted an ERA of 2.61. He’s been extremely dialed in recently. The Mets have won his last 3 starts and he’s posted an ERA of only 1.83 in those outings. Also, Santana is 6-1 with an ERA of 1.46 in 10 career starts versus the Marlins. Buehrle has pitched well but not as well as Santana. The Fish have lost 4 of his 6 starts on the season. We’ll bet the Mets.

Washington was able to salvage a game against the Pirates thanks to a strong pitching performance from Stephen Strasburg. The Nationals were again able to take over first place in the National League East by a half-game over the Braves and they will be looking to get back to over .500 on the road with a win tonight. Washington took three of four from the Reds in their first series this season at home and the Nationals are now 23-8 in their last 31 games following a win.
Cincinnati returns home following a 4-2 roadtrip as it took a series each from Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. The Reds entered the roadtrip right at .500 so they are now two games over .500 and trail the Cardinals by 3.5 games in the National League Central. The offense has been stumbling as it is hitting only .232 on the season including .237 at home and while the pitching has been the strength, that won’t be the case tonight. The Reds are 5-23 in their last 28 games against teams with a winning percentage above .600.
Mike Leake has not pitched well this season as he is 0-4 with a 5.97 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in five starts. He has tossed just tow quality starts on the year and while he is coming off a quality outing in his last game, the last time he was coming off one, he was hit hard for five runs in 6.1 innings and it happened to come against Washington as well. He has allowed seven home run in his five starts and in two home starts, the Reds have averaged only 2.5 rpg of run support. Get more MLB picks today on our free sports picks page above.
Gio Gonzalez so far has been one of the best off-season acquisitions in all of baseball as he has been spectacular. His first start for the Nationals was not a good one as he allowed four runs in 3.2 innings against the Cubs but since then, he has tossed five straight quality outings to lower his ERA to 1.72 to go along with a 0.90 WHIP. Washington has won five of his six starts and that includes a win over the Reds as Gonzalez shut them down, allowing no runs on two hits in seven innings. 3* (907) Washington Nationals
