The Thunder made the Lakers look foolish in Game 1 of this Western Conference Semifinals matchup on Monday. But time and time again we saw the schizophrenic Lakers bounce back in their series against Denver when it looked like they were down for the count. We think that they will bounce back again tonight and play much better here in Game 2. The Game 1 loss was the worst for the Lakers this season and we think the public is overreacting to that result, which is why we are getting an even better number in Game 2 than was offered in Game 1 for the Lakers. Normally in Game 2 like this the team that lost would be given a little more credit from the oddsmakers in an obvious bounce-back situation. Kendrick Perkins injured his hip in Game 1 and is considered a game-time decision on Wednesday. If he is missing or limited the Lakers have a big advantage down low with Bynum and Gasol that they should be able to exploit. We think the Thunder played a near-perfect game in Game 1 and we just don’t see them putting up a similar effort in Game 2. The Thunder led the NBA in turnovers this season yet committed only four in the Game 1 win. Despite the Game 1 result we still think the bookies should have posted a lower line on this Game 2 since the Lakers are facing a real critical game tonight, especially with back-to-back games in LA coming up. -Doc’s Sports

They come into this game having only scored one run in their last two contests overall. They hand the ball to left-hander John Danks here in this one. Danks has really struggled to begin this season with ERA just below 6.00 for the year. Don’t be fooled by his last start either as Danks only struck out just one guy and walked three overall in the game.

No reason to treat Smyly as anything less than a very good starter right now. Getting him at this price against one of the worst offense’s in all of baseball versus lefties and going up against a guy pitching as poorly as Danks has been this season, is great value here. Even though the A’s and Angels have both struggled offensively early this season, I think these two teams will easily surpass 7 runs tonight.

The A’s will send out Tyson Ross, who is 0-3 with a 13.15 ERA and 2.385 WHIP in his last three starts. In his last two road starts, he has allowed 16 runs on 20 hits in just over 7 innings of work. I would be shocked if the Angels didn’t put at least 5 runs in this game.

The Braves record is a half-game better than the Cardinals after winning the last two days and they have improved to 13-8 on the road. This includes a 6-2 record on this current roadtrip but the situation for today is not in their favor. Tommy Hanson has pitched ok this season but he has been all over the place with just three quality outings in his seven starts on the season. The three quality effort have come in his last four games so he is pitching better of late but his velocity is still not where it should be and that is a major concern. The Twins squeaked out a 1-run win yesterday, but it was just their 3rd victory in their last 11 games. Minnesota has been one of the best fades in baseball, even on its home field and even after a win. The Twins are 14-43 in their last 57 overall, 14-37 in their last 51 home games and 5-22 in their last 27 games following a win.

The Blue Jays have had plenty of success versus the Twins as well. They are 35-16 in the last 51 meetings, including 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Minnesota.

Besides the obvious reasons for fading Minnesota that I have already listed, I also believe the Jays have the edge on the mound with rookie Drew Hutchison, who will be making his fifth start. You know a pitcher is struggling when they struggle at San Francisco and San Diego, which is where Wolf’s last two starts took place. He allowed 7 runs on 18 hits in 11 innings over those two starts.
