It’s very rare we take any favorite of more than seven points in the NBA. You probably can’t count fingers on both hands to sum up the number of times we will take the big chalk. However, in this case we think it is warranted. The Heat have dropped three of their last four games. They are in desperate need of a win and we don’t think there is any way they overlook this opponent on Friday. The Bobcats are the perfect remedy for an ailing team. The Bobcats have lost 14 straight and this team has totally thrown in the towel for this season. This team is getting some very favorable lines from the bookies yet they have covered only four games during this losing streak. This team had one of its more winnable games last night at home against the Pistons and they lost by 24. And things don’t look any brighter on a back-to-back as the Bobcats are 6-13 ATS on the season with no rest. This team has lost four of its last six games by 20 or more and five of six by double digits. The 20+-point losses were to Detroit, Washington and Atlanta at home and Atlanta on the road. The Heat are head and shoulders above these teams. We just think the Heat will come into this game angry and they will want a commanding win to get their confidence back. The Bobcats have been in this situation before, getting a ton of points, and they have not fared well. They are 2-5 ATS when getting 14 or more. They are also 6-11 ATS on the road against winning teams. When these teams played here on New Year’s Day the Heat won by almost 40. We think this could be a replay of that game. Regardless, we had the line for this game at 19 and we think there is some good value here. -Doc’s Sports
