Minnesota vs. Penn State Basketball Over-Under Prediction: January 15th 2018

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Penn State Nittany Lions
College Basketball Pick: Under 148 points (January 15th 2018)

I bet against the Gophers in their last game, and they lost by a whopping 34 points at home versus Purdue. Here is what I had to say prior to tip off: “The Gophers are coming off a home loss to Indiana, and they have lost two of three on the road so far. The Wildcats have won five of the last seven in this series, and they won their last home game against Minnesota by a whopping 24 points. The Gophers will miss two starters tonight, with guard Amir Coffey and center Reggie Lynch both out indefinitely. The pair have averaged over 24 points and 12 rebounds per game combined this season.” Granted that Penn State is a step down in competition from their previous two games against Northwestern and Purdue, the Gophers haven’t shown any evidence that they can compete in the BIG10 with their current roster.

Since the injury to Coffey, they have averaged less than 60 points per game. The total for tonight’s game looks a little high, it’s in fact higher than it was in any of the previous 10 meetings between these two schools. Penn State has failed to reach the total in nine of it’s last 11 home games, while the Gophers have gone under in five straight overall.

Doc’s Sports betting the Oregon State Beavers -1 on September 9th 2017

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Oregon State Beavers
College Football Prediction: Oregon State -1 (September 9th 2017)

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #392 Take Oregon State Beavers over Minnesota Golden Gophers (Saturday 10 pm FS1) It is now or never for Oregon State and their Coach Gary Anderson. They have put forth two lackluster performances thus far in 2017 and they need to right the ship in a big way on Saturday night. Minnesota did not look impressive either against Buffalo and they have a new coaching staff and I feel they are a couple of years away from being serious contenders. This is a must win game for Oregon State as a loss here means that they might not win another game until November. Oregon State lost to a better Minnesota team in 2016 by just 7 points (+13 underdog) and they will win this game straight-up. Do not miss out on Doc’s Sports Football card featuring top plays on Saturday and Sunday. Wisconsin vs. Minnesota Basketball Prediction from Teddy Covers: March 5th 2017

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers
College Basketball Prediction: Minnesota +7.5 points (March 5th 2017)

Even on senior day in Madison, the Wisconsin Badgers have no business in this pointspread range against the surging Golden Gophers.  Things have gone south in a hurry for Wisconsin, falling apart down the stretch of their Big 10 campaign.

The results do not lie.  Wisconsin is 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three contests, losing each time as a favorite, including SU losses at -7 and -12.  Over their last eight games, the Badgers have covered a grand total of one pointspread, falling nearly 10 POINTS PER GAME below betting market expectations.  The Badgers are quite simply not being priced in the correct range these days, an easy fade here!

Minnesota most assuredly still remembers their bitter, two point OT loss to the Badgers at home earlier this season; part of an 0-5 skid to close out January.  Since the calendar turned to February, the Gophers have won eight straight games, including a 14 point win as five point underdogs in their last road game at Maryland.  Six of those eight wins have come by nine points or more – extending leads and closing out games.

Richard Pitino’s squad has hit just shy of 75% from the free throw line during this winning streak, in sharp contrast with Greg Gard’s team that can’t extend leads late due to free throw shooting below 65% for the full season, ranked #319 in the nation! Poor free throw shooting has the potential to be a real nightmare in this spread range for Badger backers…and that’s only if Wisconsin is in position to win the game at all!  Take Minnesota.

Minnesota vs. Washington State Holiday Bowl Over-Under & Point Spread Pick: December 27th 2016

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Washington State Cougars – 7:00pm ET December 27th 2016

Point Spread: Washington State is an 8.5 point favorite against Minnesota in the 2016 National Funding Holiday Bowl. The over/under for this game is 61 points. (Note: Line opened at WSU -5.5)

Public Perception: 65% of the wagering public is betting that Washington State will cover the point spread against Minnesota. 66% believe that this game will go over the total of 61 points.

Recent Performance: Minnesota finished their season out 5-2 with a loss in their last game against the Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 31-17 as a 14 point underdog. The week prior to that, they beat Northwestern by a score of 29-12 as a pick. Washington State finished out their year on an 8-2 winning streak, losing their last two games which were against Washington and Colorado by respective scores of 17-45 and 24-38.

Side Betting Trends: Washington State is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. Washington State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Big Ten. Minnesota is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. Minnesota is 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games following a straight up loss.

Under is 4-0 in Cougars last 4 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game. Under is 4-0-1 in Cougars last 5 games following a straight up loss. Under is 12-5 in Golden Gophers last 17 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. Under is 7-3 in Golden Gophers last 10 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.

Head-to-Head Betting Trends: No Trends Available

The Cougars look to finish the year with a win as they face Minnesota in the National Funding Holiday Bowl in California on December 27th. The Cougars bounced back from two early losses to be a contender in their conference before finishing with back-to-back losses to CU and WASH, while the Golden Gophers will play in a bowl for a fifth straight year. On paper, Minnesota should have a tough time slowing down Washington’s pass offense, which led the Pac-12, but we feel this game will have slower tempo than expected, giving the Gophers a chance for a late point spread cover.

Betting Pick: Minnesota Golden Gophers +8.5
Over-Under Pick: Under 61 points

Spartans vs. Gophers Basketball Betting Prediction from Brandon Lee: December 27th 2016

Michigan State Spartans vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers
College Basketball Predictions: Minnesota -6.5 points (December 27th 2016)

The public is pounding Michigan State at a near 60% clip, yet this line continues to go the other direction. That tells me the big money is on the Gophers and I couldn’t agree more. Minnesota has jumped out to a 12-1 start and are a perfect 11-0 at home. Michigan State has won 4 of 5, but continue to not play well and are still missing their best player in freshman star Miles Bridges. Without him they have struggled to put away some mediocre teams and even lost by 8 at home to Northeastern recently. Regardless of who the Spartans have available, Minnesota is going to treat this like they are at full strength and lay everything on the line in their conference opener at home. Give me the Gophers -6.5!

Maryland vs. Minnesota NCAA Basketball Prediction from Brandon Lee: February 18th 2016

NCAA Basketball Prediction: Minnesota +10.5 points (February 18th 2016)

Maryland comes into this game off an ugly 57-70 home loss to Wisconsin and the perception here is that the Terrapins are going to bounce back with an easy win over Minnesota, who has yet to win a conference game at 0-13. I believe that perception has created value on the Golden Gophers, who have quietly been playing better of late. Minnesota only lost 71-75 at Iowa last time out and have now lost 7 of their last 8 games by 8 points or less. This is the biggest game left on the schedule for the Golden Gophers, so we can expect a max effort here and they catch a break by avoiding Maryland’s Diamond Stone, who is suspended for this contest. The Terrapins have been a great team to fade against bad teams, as they are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 against at team that’s won fewer than 40% of their games. Give me Minnesota +10.5!
