The set-up: The 19-6 Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry (26.2-5.1-6.6) when they attempt to move to 5-0 on their current six-game road trip when they play tonight at the 9-13 Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night (trip concludes Friday in Detroit). Curry sprained his right ankle in the closing stages of Monday’s 125-115 win at New Orleans. X-rays and an MRI on the injury came back negative but the Warriors announced Tuesday that Curry would be out at least two weeks, at which point he would be re-evaluated. The Hornets are off a 104-94 home win over Orlando on Monday night, as Kemba Walker returned from a two-game absence due to a strained shoulder to pour in 29 points. The Hornets had lost four in a row before that win.

Golden State: “Obviously a sucky situation,” Curry said after Monday’s game. “But I’ll be back.” The Charlotte native had been looking forward to his annual homecoming game and no wonder, as he has had two 40-point nights among his seven previous returns. Curry has missed two games this season, including a 110-106 home loss to Sacramento last Monday with a bruised thigh. Patrick McCaw started for Curry on that occasion and scored a season-best 16 points. Forward Kevin Durant (24.6-6.4-5.0) was ejected with 1:14 left in Monday’s game after an altercation with Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins – the third time he has been tossed this season. “I got to be more focused, I got to be more poised,” Durant told reporters. Golden State is averaging 127 points during a four-game winning streak and enters this contest ranked No. 1 in scoring (118.5 PPG), FG percentage (51.4%) and three-point percentage (40.3%). The Warriors are allowing 107.2 PPG (19th) but rank first in defensive FG percentage (43.7%).

Charlotte: The 29 points against the Magic represented Walker’s 200th game with 20 or more points as a member of the Hornets. He became the first in franchise history to achieve that feat. Walker (22.6 & 6.2 APG) has scored 20 or more points in seven of his last 10 games, including scoring a season-best 47 at Chicago on Nov. 17th. Walker’s backcourt partner Lamb (15.7 & 5.0) is having a solid season but while center Dwight Howard averages a double-double (15.1 & 12.4), has  he really made the Hornets a better team? I think most would answer, N-O!

The pick: Golden State was dealing with all sorts of bumps and bruises as November came to a close and now Curry will sit for a couple weeks. That said, I still want no part of the Hornets in this one. Lay the points with Golden St.

Golden State (73-15) has now won 21 of their last 22 games and even on their off nights, they are simply better than their opponents, especially the Utah Jazz who they have beaten by 23 points combined in the first 2 games of this series. The Golden State Warriors have not cared where the games were being played for a few years now, this includes winning their last 7 games as the away team. Golden State is yet to lose in the Playoffs this season (6-0) after sweeping Portland in round 1, now on their way to doing the same thing to Utah in round 2.

This Warriors attack is obviously led by Stephen Curry, who went 5-8 shooting behind the 3-point line in game 2. With him shooting the ball this well, the Warriors are unstoppable. Utah has now lost 5 of their last 8 games and are already worn down from their first round series against the Los Angeles Clippers, where the series had to go the distance before Utah could finally move on to round 2, after 7 games. Take the better team in this matchup. Golden State (-6).
