I’ll side with the Washington Nationals tonight in a game that features two teams that are likely out of the playoff race. I usually like siding with the dog in these games, especially considering the Colorado Rockies are coming off a series with the league’s best team and will likely suffer an emotional letdown. The Rockies were swept by the Philadelphia Phillies, and they have now lost four straight.
 
Washington continues to fight, winners of four of their last five overall while taking two of three from Atlanta last series. Nationals’ starter Ross Detwiler is 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.176 WHIP on the season, allowing just 4 earned runs in 15 1/3 innings. Rockies’ starter Esmil Rogers is 4-1 with a 7.31 ERA and 1.767 WHIP this season, yielding a whopping 23 earned runs and 50 base runners in 28 1/3 innings.
