The San Antonio Spurs are absolutely rolling right now. I’ll back this red-hot team as they travel to Utah to face the Jazz tonight. Utah will be playing the second of a back-to-back and their 3rd game in 4 days, while San Antonio is playing just their 2nd game in 5 days. The Spurs will clearly have more energy to give tonight.

San Antonio has won 10 straight games heading into this one. The Spurs are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games as well. What is most impressive about this streak is that seven of those 10 games have been on the road. After struggling away from home early in the year, the Spurs are proving they can win anywhere.

The Jazz have lost six of their last eight games overall with one of their two wins coming at home against the lowly Washington Wizards. San Antonio has their number, and I fully expect that to continue tonight. The Spurs have gone 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS in their last four meetings with the Jazz, winning all four by 7 points or more.

This play falls into a system that is 67-30 ATS over the last 5 seasons. It tells us to bet against home underdogs (UTAH) – extremely tired team – when playing their 3rd game in 4 days, in February games. The favorite is 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings. Bet San Antonio Monday.

NBA Picks for February 2nd 2012: New Orleans Hornets vs. San Antonio Spurs

February 2nd, 2012

New Orleans Hornets vs. San Antonio Spurs
NBA Pick: New Orleans Hornets +9 -110 odds (February 2nd 2012)

My money is on the New Orleans Hornets to come out with their best effort against the Spurs tonight. The key here is to look past the individual records of both teams and look at situation facing both teams. There is no question that the Spurs are the better team, but this is a very difficult spot for San Antonio. Not only are the Spurs playing the second of a back-to-back, but they are playing their fourth game in five days. The Hornets find themselves in the exact same situation, but it will be more difficult for the aging Spurs to get up for a bad team than it will for the Hornets to try and beat one of the top teams.

I understand the Spurs are a much better team at home than they are on the road, but you can’t ignore the fact that they won by just 2-points (104-102)at New Orleans earlier this season.

Another thing you have to take into consideration is the 30 minutes logged by veteran Tim Duncan in the Spurs 18-point second half rally against the Rockets last night. Duncan’s minutes have been limited all season. I believe there’s a good chance he won’t play very much in this game if at all.

The Spurs are just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, while the Hornets are an impressive 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. BET NEW ORLEANS!

The Spurs have been a tremendous wager at home this season and in this series. The Spurs are 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS at home where they are winning by an average of 11.6 points. The Spurs are 13-0 SU and 12-1 ATS in their last 13 at home versus the Hawks. Those 13 wins have come by 14, 15, 29, 22, 13, 39, 16, 24, 14, 15, 6, 15, and 16 points for an average winning margin of 18.3 points.

The Hawks, who have been inconsistent on the road, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog of 4.5 points or less. The Spurs have played back-to-back games on the road since enduring their first home loss Friday, and you can bet that loss isn’t sitting well with a team that went 36-5 at home last season. We’ll lay the points.

I’ll side with the San Antonio Spurs tonight as just a 4-point home favorite over the Denver Nuggets. San Antonio has not lost at home all season, and they are showing great value Saturday as they look to remain unbeaten at home.

The Spurs are 5-0 SU & 4-1 ATS in five home games this year. Not only are they winning, they are absolutely crushing opponents. San Antonio is scoring 101.6 points/game while allowing 85.4 points/game at home this year, outscoring foes by an average of 16.2 points/game. Denver is just 1-2 on the road this season.

San Antonio has owned Denver in recent history. The Spurs have won five of their last six meetings with the Nuggets, going 5-1 ATS in the process. San Antonio is 15-5 ATS in their last 20 home games when playing their 3rd game in 4 days. The Spurs are also 15-5 ATS in their last 20 versus good teams – outscoring their opponents by 3+ points/game. Bet San Antonio Saturday. NBA Picks for December 28th 2011: Bet The Phoenix Suns And San Antonio Spurs

December 28th, 2011

NBA Picks: December 28th 2011

NBA Pick: Phoenix Suns +2
The Suns opened the season with a tough 84-85 loss at home to the Hornets. Phoenix hasn’t started out 0-2 since the 1996-97 season. The 76ers lost 103-107 at Portland on Monday, despite shooting 48% from the field. Philadelphia is a team a lot of people are expecting to show big improvements this season, but I don’t believe they deserve to be favored in Phoenix. Dating back to last season, Philadelphia is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite. The Suns shot just 38.5% in the loss to New Orleans. Phoenix is primarily a team who shoots a lot of jump shots. If they aren’t falling, any team in the NBA can beat them regardless of where the game is. My money is on the Suns to shoot a much higher percentage tonight and win this game as a live underdog. BET THE SUNS +2! -Steve Janus

NBA Pick: San Antonio Spurs -4
The Clippers played a good second half against Golden State, but they’ll have to put together two good halves to get past the Spurs and I don’t see it happening. With so many new faces, the Clippers will have chemistry issues early on. The Spurs, who have a nucleus of guys that have played together a long time will have no such issues with chemistry. Many forget San Antonio finished last year’s regular season with the best record in the West. The Clippers have lost 46 of 51 meetings with the Spurs since Dec. 10, 1997, including 16 in a row in San Antonio by an average of 14.3 points. Chris Paul is one of the best point guards in the league, but even he has struggled in San Antonio, losing 11 of his 13 visits there while with the Hornets. The Spurs, who handled Memphis by 13 in their opener, are 25-11 ATS in their last 36 games following a win of more than 10 points. We’ll lay the number. -Jimmy Boyd.
